Department of Defense Appropriations Bill Eliminates
Deemed Military Wage Credits

H.R. 3338, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2002 was passed by both Houses of Congress on December 20, 2001 and is awaiting action by President Bush.

Section 8134 of the bill eliminates deemed wage credits for members of the uniformed services (primarily military), as provided under section 229(a), for all years after calendar year 2001. Deemed wage credits will continue to be given for appropriate earnings for periods prior to calendar year 2002.
