STONGINGTON APPROVED AS 15th FEDERAL CROP INSURANCE COMPANY
WASHINGTON, Sep 1, 2004 - The Risk Management Agency (RMA) today announced Stonington Insurance Company
as the fifteenth approved participant in the Federal crop insurance program.
Stonington has a strong rating of “A” from the A.M. Best Company, which reports,
“This rating reflects the company’s excellent capitalization, favorable operating
experience, and strong risk management capabilities derived from its strategic
role within the RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. Group of Companies.”
“RMA’s goal has been to broaden the availability and accessibility of crop insurance,”
said Risk Management Agency Administrator Ross Davidson. “With the addition of
Stonington as an insurance provider, we increase coverage and capacity to the Federal
crop insurance program to better provide risk management tools to the American
agricultural producer.”
Stonington is approved to write an authorized level of crop insurance premium for
the 2005 crop year the company is owned by Glencoe U.S. Holdings Inc. Stonington’s
Managing General Agent for the business is Agro National L.L.C. chartered in Iowa
with approximately 175 agency relationships.
Providing affordable and effective risk management tools to farmers is a unique
public-private partnership. RMA is committed to extensive private sector involvement
