TWELVE COMPANIES SIGN THE 2005 SRA

WASHINGTON, Jun 29, 2004 - To date, 12 insurance companies representing 92 percent of the Federal crop insurance program have signed the 2005 Standard Reinsurance Agreement. Companies who sign still must have their plans of operations approved, as is standard practice within the Federal crop insurance program.

The agency continues to receive inquiries from additional insurance companies interested in joining the program in 2005, and anticipates receiving their required paperwork in the coming weeks for review.

RMA is pleased by the positive response and looks forward to working closely with the companies to continue to advance the crop insurance program and meet the risk management needs of America's agricultural producers.

A list of approved insurance companies will be posted to the RMA website no later than July 2.
