COMMODITY CREDIT CORPORATION BARTER PROGRAM EXCHANGES WHEAT FOR FOOD

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11, 2008- The Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) today will complete the transfer of uncommitted wheat inventories in exchange for finished food products that will be donated to feed the hungry.

Wheat inventories offered today are comprised of about 1,200 bushels soft white; 889,000 bushels durum; and 3,036,000 bushels hard red spring. The wheat, as well as previous barters, is being transferred to The Seam, a private company located in Memphis, Tennessee, which specializes in the online marketing of agricultural commodities. All remaining CCC-owned wheat (33,632,979 bushels) is retained for the Bill Emerson Humanitarian Trust.
