Work continues on Honolulu International Airport’s new 1,800-stall parking structure with concrete pours, installation of pre-cast columns, beams, electrical lines and elevator equipment. The $39.2 million project broke ground last September.

"The project is more than 50 percent complete," said state airports deputy director Brian Sekiguchi. "I am pleased to report that it is on schedule and the public will be able to use it by the end of the year."

Located between the interisland and overseas terminals, the new structure will increase the number of parking stalls at Honolulu International Airport to approximately 6,300.

The new eight-story parking garage will be connected to the inter-island terminal garage on the top level by a bridge that will carry two lanes of traffic. There will be a moving sidewalk on the lower level for pedestrians.

The parking garage is part of the statewide $2.3 billion, multi-year plan to modernize all the islands’ airports.

Dick Pacific Construction Co. is the project’s contractor.
