Angola - Complex Emergency

Regional Team: SWAN
Southern, West And North Africa

Disaster Declared:
10/06/2003

Brief Description:
In FY 2004, despite significant progress, the humanitarian situation in areas of Angola remained serious in the wake of the country's 27-year civil conflict. The signing of the 2002 peace agreement between Government of the Republic of Angola (GRA) and the National Union for the Independence of Angola ushered in an era of peace; however, decades of war resulted in massive internal displacement and refugee outflows, as well as the collapse or destruction of key agricultural, health, education, water, and transportation infrastructure, limiting the provision of basic public services.
