Correctional Populations in the United States, 1993This annual publication reports on the growing number of persons in the United States under some form of correctional supervision for 1993: 2.8 million on probation 456,000 in jail, 909,000 in prison, and 671,000 on parole. For State and Federal prison inmates, the following data are reported for 1993: sex, race, Hispanic origin, admission type, release type, sentence length, escapes, probation and parole violations, facility crowding, deaths in prison, and inmates entering prison under sentence of death. The report also includes data on jails and jail inmates. A special section presents detailed State-by-State data from the 1993 Census of Jails. 10/95.
