Car and Van-pooling ------------------- Interest in improving transportation in and around Fermilab divides along two lines: Fermilab commuters and "village people" without cars altogether. The first group needs to get back and forth from home to work and the second needs to get around site and nearby offsite to, say, get to the grocery store. Fermilab has a Car- and Vanpool web page that has been maintained by Kurt Riesselman. It is aimed at commuters and has URL http://www.fnal.gov/faw/vanpool/. There is a lot of info about PACE programs. Also, there are some links pointing to tools people can use to organize themselves. Some of these have become obselete. Kurt suggested the link https://www.sharethedrive.org looked very useful. We checked with Bruce C.; he said we could link it from the Fermilab vanpool web page. Meanwhile, we are working to connect the GSA with people in the CD who can help setup a zero-maintance, zero cost wiki for helping people get rides around site or, say, to buy groceries. A meeting between the right people is being setup.
