Adam Ingols Named Department of Energy Chief of Staff

WASHINGTON, DC – Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman today announced that Adam Ingols has been named the Department of Energy's (DOE) Chief of Staff.  In this role, Mr. Ingols will assist in the management of DOE’s $24 billion budget and help implement the Administration’s comprehensive energy initiatives.   Mr. Ingols replaces Jeffrey Kupfer, who served as Chief of Staff since October 2006 and was nominated by President Bush this week to serve as DOE’s Deputy Secretary of Energy.

"Since early in this Administration, Adam has made countless contributions to advance the President’s energy and national security agenda,” Secretary Bodman said.  “It is an important time at the Department of Energy and we are fortunate to have him here.  I appreciate Adam’s commitment and strong capabilities as we work to promote a strong, diverse energy future for all Americans.”

“I am honored to serve Secretary Bodman in this new capacity,” Mr. Ingols said.  “DOE has some of the most talented professionals in the federal government and I look forward to continuing to work with them toward achieving the Department’s important energy, scientific and national security missions.”

Mr. Ingols previously served in the Office of the Secretary as Senior Advisor and Director of Strategic Outreach since 2005.  Prior to his time at DOE, Mr. Ingols held various positions in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs.  He began his career in Washington on Capitol Hill in 1999, working for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, J. Dennis Hastert.

Mr. Ingols is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and he and his wife, Abby, live in Arlington, Virginia.
