This quasi-true-color MODIS image shows smoke plumes streaming from daytime active fires observed on March 29, 2000 in Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. While fires are recognizable from their smoke plumes, <strong>hot spots</strong> associated with the fires themselves will become visible as MODIS middle-infrared data are calibrated, corrected, and merged in near-future productions.
