Marianne K. Henderson, MS

Biography

Marianne Krall Henderson received her Master's degree in Zoology from the University of Maryland in 1988. She joined the National Cancer Institute in 1988 as a biologist in the Laboratory of Genetics. Marianne worked from 1995 to 1999 as the lead scientific program specialist for the NCI Division of Basic Sciences. She designed and implemented the prototype Annual Research Directory for the DBS. Since its publication, the other divisions of NCI and other NIH institutes have used it as a template to publish their own directories. She was the Intramural consultant for the revision of the Intramural review process that was established in 1996. She also served as the consultant for the design of the Intramural Research Program Online database which collects the annual report and research directory data in a Web-based format.

Marianne was named the Chief, Office of Division Operations and Analysis in NCI's Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics in July 1999. She is responsible for Division fiscal and scientific reporting; strategic planning; development and oversight of computing and laboratory infrastructure needed for large-scale molecular epidemiology studies; budget formulation and monitoring for the Office of the Director, DCEG; acquiring supplemental funding to conduct DCEG research; and acting as a representative of the Director, DCEG in meetings within the NCI and across the NIH. She was instrumental in designing the "Intramural System" in conjunction with the NCI's Information Systems and Computer Services. The system is a study management tool for the intramural research program.
