This presentation will use case studies to highlight infection control issues typically encountered in a critically ill patient population. Discussion will focus on risk factors for nosocomial infections in the intensive care unit and the approaches employed to identify and prevent horizontal transmission of these infections. This will be performed in an interactive format using an audience response system.
