Issues: People living with AIDS/HIV (PWA's) have a variety of needs and concerns as it relates to the activities of their daily living. Project: To provide PWA's in a residential community setting the support they require to maintain their dignity and independence. Results: By their own definition, PWA's may require assistance with a variety of tasks and activities. Varying degrees of health and wellness can make tasks such as shopping, cooking, cleaning, keeping appointments, and personal hygiene difficult. Direct support in these areas from friends, neighbors and family members can help PWA's to live more independently for as long as they are able. Lessons Learned: Having a sense of independence is a significant need identified by many PWA's. By providing practical, everyday assistance with the activities of daily living, PWA's can maintain a high degree of quality of life.
