2006 Update to the King County Comprehensive Plan

The King County Council adopted the 2006 Update to the King County Comprehensive Plan on Oct. 9, 2006, as Ordinance 15607 (PDF, 986KB).

Background

On March 1, 2006 , the Executive transmitted three ordinances that would amend both KCCP policies and implementing codes. These ordinances were referred to the Growth Management and Natural Resources Committee, which held six meetings to review the Executive's proposal. On June 13, 2006, the committee amended the proposed ordinances 2006-0114 and 2006-0113 and made a "do-pass" recommendation to the full Council on the amended ordinances (known as substitute ordinances) as well as proposed ordinance 2006-0112.

The Council held a public hearing on the 2006 Comprehensive Plan Update ordinances on September 18, 2006. On October 2, the Council made additional amendments and passed Substitute Ordinances 2006-0112.2 (PDF, 49KB) and 2006-0113.3 (PDF, 677KB). The Council deferred action on Proposed Ordinance 2006-0114.2.On October 9, 2006, the Council made further amendments and passed Substitute Ordinance 2006-0114.3 (PDF, 986KB).

You can read copies of GMNR staff reports on the 2006 KCCP Update, including information on committee amendments, by going to Legisearch and entering each ordinance number (for example, "2006-0112") in the search engine.

Making Suggestions for Future Comprehensive Plan Updates

In accordance with state law, the county maintains a “docket” of written comments and suggestions for KCCP amendments. Any interested party may submit items for the docket. Docket forms are available on the King County Web site. The docket is open continuously; however, the deadline for submitting docketed comments is September 30th for consideration in the amendment cycle for the following year.
