Target 2014
Goals and strategies
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department´s target is to provide and protect outstanding natural, scenic, cultural, historic and recreational sites for the enjoyment and education of present and future generations. The Department is guided by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission, which is composed of seven citizens appointed by the Governor. The Commission leads by defining and affirming the core values upon which the Department´s business is conducted, and by overseeing the long-term, fundamental direction of the Department. Target 2014, adopted by the Commission on November 30, 2000, represents that direction.

The time frame of Target 2014 reflects the 15-year funding commitment approved by voters when they passed Measure 66, which took effect in 1999.  Voters will review the funding in 2014.

Read the complete Target 2014 plan, or review each goal online:
1: Natural and cultural resources 5: Memorable experiences
2: Outdoor recreation 6: Beaches, trails and waterways
3: Sustainable use and management 7: Camping
4: Cultural treasures 8: Stable funding
The department is in constant motion -- rehabilitating park facilities, funding historic preservation projects, evaluating potential recreation sites. We highlight some of these efforts in our periodic Progress Report.
