Statement from the family of Pvt. 1st Class Thomas L. Tucker

The family of PFC Tucker will not be providing media interviews today. Mrs. Tucker has stated that she believes that later in the week, when they have had more time to deal with the earlier information about their sons status and the continuing release of information from the theater of operations, they will be better prepared to deal with the esteemed members of the press. In the meantime, they have authorized the release of the following statement.

Our son, Thomas Tucker was born in Prineville, Ore. We moved to Madras where he and his sister were raised. He graduated Madras High School. For several years in worked in construction as a framer. Thomas has a great love of music and played the piano.

He joined the U.S. Army stating that he wanted to do something positive and was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky as a member of B Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

In a recent telephone message that remains on their telephone answering machine, Thomas sent the following greeting. "Be proud of me Mom, I'm defending my country. Tell sis and my nephews hello for me, I'm OK, I'm on my way."

Wesley and Margaret Tucker and the rest of the family wish to express their deepest gratitude to the communities of Madras and Central Oregon for their wonderful support during this time of stress and uncertainty. The Sheriff's Office has and is continuing to provide support to allow them time to deal with the information received and that continues to come to them regarding the disappearance of their son."
