Oregon Troops not involved in copter crash
Salem, Ore. - The Oregon Military Department reports the 1042nd Medical Company based in Salem was not involved in the recent helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Although members of this company are serving in this area, all are reported to be safe and continuing their missions.
Maj. Matthew Brady, the Commander of the 1042nd Medical Company reported to officials this morning that the Oregon based soldiers were not involved in this training mission that resulted in a crash of an Army Black Hawk helicopter outside of Bagram.
Maj. Gen. Alexander Burgin, The Adjutant General of the Oregon National Guard expresses his concern and condolences to those who may have lost loved ones in this training accident. In a brief statement Burgin said, “This tragic accident underscores the vital and often dangerous operational environment our citizen-soldiers are serving within.” Burgin has just returned from an official command visit with the soldiers of the 1042nd Medical Company.
