National Guard soldiers to report to Winter Fire on Monday
 
Salem - Ten crews of Oregon National Guard soldiers will report to the Winter Fire in the Klamath Lake District on Monday, July 22. The crews are each comprised of 20 soldiers and five support personnel.

Plans are currently being made to transport 10 Oregon National Guard crews to the Winter Fire 10 miles northwest of Paisley, Ed Daniels, Oregon Department of Forestry, said.
 
The soldiers reporting to the Winter Fire are from the 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry, headquartered in LaGrande; and the 1st Battalion, 82nd Cavalry, headquartered in Bend. The 1-82 Cavalry has units in Woodburn, Lebanon and Redmond. The 3-116 Cavalry has units in Pendleton, Ontario, Baker City, Hermiston, The Dalles and Milton-Freewater.
 
On Tuesday, July 23, a second round of training will begin at the Bend National Guard Armory for the 1249th Engineer Battalion, and at Jackson Armory in Portland for the 2-218th Field Artillery. Units from the 1249th Engineers are located in Salem, Bend, Burns, Dallas, Albany, and Camp Rilea. The field artillery units are from Portland, Hood River, and Clackamas.
