Oregon Army National Guard mobilizing remainder of 1042nd Med Co

Salem, Ore. - The Oregon Army National Guard is mobilizing 88 additional soldiers from the 1042nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance), effective May 28, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These soldiers will travel to Fort Bragg, NC, and join the 20 soldiers previously deployed. They will be tasked to perform their primary mission of medical evacuation and initial treatment. The duration of this newest deployment is not known at this time.

The 1042 mobilized 59 personnel in support of Operation Joint Forge in Bosnia in 2000. They have also deployed to Turkey for an international exercise, "Dynamic Mix." The 1042 is the latest of many mobilizations of the Oregon National Guard. Since 1995, the Oregon Army National Guard has mobilized more than 900 soldiers in support operations in the Balkans and the Middle East.
