Update on rescue operation on Mt. Hood
 
Recent information from Flight Operations at the Army Aviation Support Facility #1 of the Oregon Army National Guard based in Salem, Ore. indicates that the UH-60 Blackhawk is now near the top of Mt. Hood at an elevation of approximately 10,800 feet near Hells Kitchen. Flight Medics are currently being lowered to the location of the injured climber where they will attempt to stabilize the patient. He will then be loaded into the Stokes Basket and hoisted into the Blackhawk for transport to a trauma center.

Initial information cites the climber incurred a fall and current medical information is not available at this time. Conditions are good for rescue at this time.

Again, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is the incident command for this operation.
