Mass Military Funerals honors ceremony to be held in Salem, Ore.
 
The Oregon National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team in response to requests from families of veterans who recently passed away will hold a ceremony to honors those veterans. Full military honors will be provided to 35 veterans from Salem and the surrounding area at a mass funeral honors presentation at the Salem Armory Auditorium, 2310 17th St. NE on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 3:01 p.m. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.

This is the first of many mass honors ceremonies planned in Oregon to honor those veterans who did not receive full military honors at the time of their death.

The program will consist of the history of Military Funeral Honors read by Sgt. 1st Class John Skelton to be followed by an invocation by Oregon Army National Guard Chaplain John Dinsmore. Brig. Gen. Charles Yriarte, Commander of the 82 Brigade Troop Command will speak followed by a moment of silence and prayer by Chaplain Dinsmore. Bagpiper John Moritz of Veterans Commemoration Association will perform "Amazing Grace" and a presentation will be made by the VFW Post 3965. Following will be a flag fold and presentation to Jim Willis, Director of the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs who will receive the flag on behalf of all veterans being honored.

This ceremony is open to the public, families and friends, veterans organizations and media. Below is a list of the veterans being honored tomorrow.
