On April 22, the Oregon Army National Guard will sponsor their 3rd Annual Earth Day event to be held at Shaver Elementary School at 3701 NE 131st Place in Parkrose. The 3rd, 4th and 5th grades which consist of approximately 190 students will be the recipients of a fun-filled environmental awareness day. The festivities will begin at 8:40 a.m. and will conclude at the end of the school day around 3 p.m.
MEDIA IS WELCOME TO ATTEND
During the event, students will participate in nine different interactive educational booths. The themes range from oily ocean cleanup, spill response drill, clean air awareness to environmental trivia game. Each student will receive a packet of information that contains several earth-friendly ideas with instructions the students can do at home. They will also receive a bag of goodies and gadgets to remind them of the lessons they learned along with how to have fun too. The Oregon Army National Guard will also have several informational displays detailing other aspects of the environmental arena while providing the students an insight into the Environmental Program of the Oregon Army National Guard.
