King County (Region 6) is a densely-populated, highly-visible area making homeland security a top priority in our region. To assist agencies in responding to this challenge, the Federal government has provided homeland security grants to states and territories. Washington State passes funding through to the local regions. This funding will help us to prepare for and respond to activities and events that threaten our security and safety.
Homeland Security is a coordinated effort that requires representation from many disciplines to ensure we protect and secure people and infrastructure (buildings and systems). Several committees and workgroups are diligently working to provide oversight and recommendations on how to address these unique issues and provide resources where they will be the most effective.
