Mississippi Incentives and Laws

The Mississippi legislature meets annually from early January to mid-May. During the session, the governor must sign or veto legislation within five days after transmittal (except Sundays) or it becomes law without signature. If the legislature adjourns prior to the end of the five-day time period, the governor has 15 days to act (except Sundays) before legislation becomes law. If the governor vetoes legislation after adjournment, the bill must be returned to the legislature within three days after the beginning of the next session.
