Governor’s Commission on Senior Services

The Governor's Commission on Senior Services is an official state commission made up of volunteers appointed by the governor and two legislators, one from the House and one from the Senate. The Commission works to further the interests of Oregon’s seniors.

 

Oregon Disabilities Commission (ODC)

The Commission is charged by state statute to advise the Department of Human Services, the Governor, the Legislative Assembly and appropriate state agency Administrators on issues related to achieving the full economic, social, legal and political equity of individuals with disabilities. ODC also acts as a coordinating link between and among public and private organizations services individuals with disabilities.

 

Oregon State Rehabilitation Council

The Oregon State Rehabilitation Council (SRC) is a group of 15-25 consumers, advocates, business and community representatives, appointed by Oregon's Governor to advise the Department of Human Services' (DHS') Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS, formerly VRD) in the development, implementation and review of rehabilitation service delivery for Oregonians with disabilities.


People with Physical Disabilities Advisory Committee (PDAC)

People with Physical Disabilities Advisory Committee (PDAC) - serves as a bridge between the interests and needs of people with physical disabilities and the programs and policies of the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS).

  • Area Agencies on Aging and Seniors & People with Disabilities Services Offices. Oregon DHS offices that provide services to seniors and people with disabilities.
  • BenefitsCheckUp. A service of the National Council on the Aging, BenefitsCheckUp helps thousands every day to find programs for people ages 55 and over that may pay for some of their costs of prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other essential items or services.
  • Eldercare Locator. U.S. Administration on Aging site offering a nationwide, toll-free eldercare locator service. Eldercare Locator has helped older adults and their caregivers find local services for seniors.
  • Labor Statistics, The Bureau of. Fact-finding agency for the Federal Government in the field of labor economics and statistics.
  • Leadership Council of Aging Organizations - Coalition of 50 national non-profit organizations concerned with the well-being of America's older population and committed to representing their interests in the policy-making arena.
  • National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. Advocacy group for Social Security and Medicare and for all Americans who seek a healthy, productive and secure retirement.
  • Other state and federal resources. Other state, federal and national organizations that provide services and information for older americans and people with disabilities.
  • Portland State University, Institute on Aging. Research, training and service to the community related to the issues, policies, and programs that affect the quality of life for elders and their families.
  • Social Security Online. Federal government site with information about Social Security, Medicare, disability benefits, senior services, retirement and more. Information available in several languages.
  • You Can! - Steps to Healthier Aging is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Steps to a HealthierUS initiative, which encourages Americans of every age to make healthier choices.
