King County Historical Property Records

This site contains information about older King County property and land use records. Property records are maintained in different county locations.  You may need to contact more than one record source to obtain complete information about your property or about a property transaction.

The records include legislative files of the County Commissioners (1853- April 1969) and the King County Council (since May 1969), and administrative files from county executive agencies. For more information about the historical property records held by the King County Archives, please check our Frequently Asked Questions pages.

Additional sources of historical property records include:

King County Recorder's Office: Official recorded property records including deeds, mortgages, liens, surveys, plat maps, condominium documents and many others.  Records with an Auditor's number or stamp can be accessed here. King County Department of Development and Environmental Services (DDES): Construction and land use records, including permits, for properties in unincorporated King County.
King County Department of Assessments: Current property tax assessment records; online Parcel Viewer. Puget Sound Regional Archives (external link), a branch of the Washington State Archives in Bellevue: historical tax assessment records.
