The Application Red Book Conversion Tools Download contains both data and conversion scripts as described below:

20010830parse.txt -- parse report file
bin - programs/scripts used to convert and parse the data
bin\V15toV16.bat - Batch file to call V15toV16.pl for all xml files in a directory
bin\V15toV16.pl - Perl script file that converts V15 data to the V16 format.
bin\V16parse.bat - Batch file to parse an xml file using V16. Requires nsgmls (not provided).
bin\parseAllV16.bat - Batch file to call V16parse.bat for all xml files in a directory.
DTDs - Data Type Definitions
ENTITIES - entity declarations
readme.txt - CD content description (this file)
UTIL0016 - converted utility patents
UTIL0017 - converted utility patents
UTIL0018 - converted utility patents

Batch file paths are hardcoded and will likely need to be modified for testing. Perl script V15toV16.pl also assumes that the input data is in relative path ..\V15data and the output data is saved in relative path ..\V16data.

The data was converted from Application Red Book Issue 08-30-2001. Only a small portion of the issue is being made available for download.

The data and software are provided as-is, and are being made available to USPTO customers to facilitate migrating to the 2002 release, and generating sample V16 data.

The Application Red Book version 16 xml DTD (zipped) is a final release for initial production use in January 2002. If you have any questions, or issues with these changes, please respond via e-mail to ed.johnson@uspto.gov.
