Tulsa, OK – A missing girl from Denham
Springs was recovered by the U.S. Marshals Service this afternoon at a
Tulsa, Oklahoma apartment complex. Jennifer O. Winter, 39, of Denham Springs
was arrested by U.S. Marshals at the Windsail Apartments on a warrant issued
by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office for non-custodial kidnapping.
The U.S. Marshals led- Middle Louisiana
Fugitive Task Force began searching for Winter and her 8 year old daughter
last month on behalf of the National Center for Missing and Exploited
Children (NCMEC). Winter fled the Baton Rouge area in November of 2007 with
her daughter after a custody dispute and had not been seen since. Task Force
Investigators worked with other U.S. Marshals Service Investigators from
Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Oklahoma to locate Winter and return the
girl to her custodial father.
“We are happy to assist the NCMEC in the recovery of this child. Our
children are our most precious resource and we are committed to keeping them
safe.” said U.S. Marshal Carey Jenkins.
The Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force, coordinated by the U.S. Marshals
Service, is a multi-agency task force that targets persons wanted for
violent crimes, narcotic offenses, and sex offenders in the Capitol area and
surrounding Parishes. Participating agencies are the Baton Rouge Police
Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana State Police,
the Louisiana State Probation and Parole, and the West Baton Rouge Parish
Sheriff’s Office.
