San
Antonio – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) arrested 23
year old Travis Robinson of Thurston County, Washington, this afternoon at a
Greyhound Bus Station in San Antonio. Robinson was wanted on numerous felony
warrants in Washington.
Robinson was charged on February 14th, 2008 with Extortion, 3 Felony Counts
of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and 2 Felony Counts of Telephone
Harassment. Robinson had told a store owner in Thurston County, Washington,
that he was a “Hitman” and would kill the owner unless the owner paid him
$60,000. Robinson also told the store owner that he had been watching the
owner’s wife through a scope on his rifle and would kill her also if he did
not pay Robinson. After police were notified, a search warrant was executed
at Robinson’s residence. A sniper rifle, several handguns and a shotgun were
recovered. Robinson was not home at the time of the search warrant. Soon
thereafter, Robinson was spotted in a vehicle by police officers and a high
speed chase ensued. Robinson was able to get away. Local authorities in
Thurston County requested assistance from the United States Marshals Service
in Seattle, Washington.
Deputy Marshals in Seattle were able to track Robinson to Louisiana
initially and then today, they developed information that Robinson may be on
a Greyhound bus traveling from Louisiana to San Antonio. Members of the Lone
Star Fugitive Task Force set up surveillance at the bus station and spotted
Robinson. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Robinson will go
through extradition proceedings and will then be returned to Washington
State to face his charges.
The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette
Collins said “The vast network of the United States Marshals Service and its
partner agencies allow for the quick and efficient flow of information that
is essential in the fugitive hunting business. Because of this network, this
fugitive was able to be stopped and arrested in mid-flight.” |
