Reno, NV - The close working partnership between
the America’s Most Wanted television show and
the United States Marshals Service has once again yielded dividends.
Robert Falkner, 33,
a fugitive recently profiled on the television show, was arrested
today in his room at a Reno
hotel. Falkner was wanted for a 2007 Assault With a Deadly Weapon on
a Police Officer in Los
Altos, California. The Los Altos Police Officer was attempting to
arrest Falkner at a residence
when Falkner, in an attempt to avoid being arrested, reportedly
rammed his vehicle into the
responding police vehicle as the officer was exiting. Falkner, with
his wife and three young
children in the car, led police on a high-speed chase through Los
Altos, California. The Los
Altos police called off the chase for the safety of the public and
the subject’s children. The Los
Altos Police Department Officer was attempting to arrest Falkner on
outstanding burglary and
grand theft warrants from the Marin County, California Sheriff’s
Office and Sunnyvale, California
Police Departments. On
Saturday, January 5, 2008, Falkner was profiled on the America’s
Most Wanted
television show. On the very next day, an anonymous tip to the show
indicated Falkner was
scheduled to stay at a specific hotel/casino in Reno, Nevada. The
investigation revealed that,
while Falkner was not currently at that hotel, he had been a regular
occupant of that, and other
Reno hotels and casinos, where he routinely registered using an
alias.
On Tuesday, January 8, 2008, the U.S.
Marshals Service investigation determined
Falkner was registered at a Reno, Nevada hotel/casino under a known
alias. After confirming
Falkner was in the hotel room, Deputy U.S. Marshals entered the room
and arrested Falkner
without incident. Falkner was transported to the Washoe County
Detention Facility where he
will await extradition to California. Falkner was booked as a
Fugitive from Justice and his bail
was set at $100,000.00.
The U.S. Marshals Service is the
