The US Marshals Service arrested a man wanted by the Baton Rouge
Police Department and has been featured as a “Most Wanted” fugitive
on Crimestoppers this afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri.
Darryl McClinton,
aka “Buster Lands”, has been a career criminal in the Baton Rouge
area for over 20 years. McClinton has been arrested almost 30 times
for charges that include murder or attempted murder on three
occasions, felon in possession of a firearm five times, armed
robbery, and other violent offenses. The Middle Louisiana Fugitive
Task Force has been investigating McClinton since August of 2006.
The Task Force developed information that McClinton was in the
Kansas City area and had been coordinating their investigation with
authorities there. Kansas City investigators received a tip that
McClinton was involved in criminal activity there and was searching
for way out of town. Investigators reacted quickly and developed
information of a possible location McClinton was hiding out.
McClinton was found walking in the area was carrying a loaded
handgun when he was taken into custody. McClinton was booked into a
Kansas jail awaiting extradition back to Louisiana.
“The capture of
McClinton is an achievement for all law enforcement agencies in the
Capital area. McClinton has been terrorizing our communities for
over 20 years and today marked the last day he will roam the street
a free man for a long time,” said Task Force coordinator Randy
Breckwoldt.
The Middle
Louisiana Fugitive Task Force, coordinated by the US Marshals
Service, is a multi-agency task force that targets persons wanted
for violent crimes, narcotic offenses, and sexual offenders in the
Capitol area and surrounding Parishes. Contributing agencies are the
Baton Rouge Police Department, the East and West Baton Rouge
Sheriff’s Offices, the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, and the
Louisiana State Probation and Parole. For more information about the
