U.S. MARSHALS ADD GANG MEMBER, ALLEGED MURDERER TO “15 MOST WANTED” LIST

SALT LAKE CITY – While committing an armed robbery here, Miguel Mateos-Martinez allegedly shot a store owner to death, despite her full cooperation with his demands for money. This crime was particularly brutal as the proprietor was shot in front of her two young siblings. This vicious murder has landed Mateos-Martinez on the U.S. Marshals list of 15 Most Wanted Fugitives.
Mateos-Martinez, 20, a Mexican native, is a documented member of a street gang with a violent criminal record despite his youth. He is currently wanted in the District of Utah for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution with an underlying state charge of aggravated murder and armed robbery. The driver of the get-away car used in this crime has been arrested, but Mateos-Martinez remains at large.

“The very nature of this criminal act obligates us to add Miguel Mateos-Martinez to our 15 Most Wanted Fugitive list and commit all available resources to his capture,” said United States Marshals Service Director John Clark. “The victim was not resisting, was not fighting, and yet was still gunned down. This is an unimaginable act of violence and we are determined to do everything we can to track down and apprehend this ruthless criminal.”

Mateos-Martinez is a Hispanic male, approximately five-feet-three-inches tall and weighing 225 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes and often has a shaved head. Mateos-Martinez has tattoos on his right forearm, left wrist and hand. The tattoo on his left hand is a chain with a cross.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Mateos-Martinez, please contact the nearest U.S. Marshals Service office or call the U.S. Marshals at 1-800-336-0102.
