Operation FALCON 2008 Results in More Than 100 Local Arrests
 

Eastern District of Louisiana – Following a four-year tradition of success in its national efforts, the U.S. Marshals Service locally conducted another successful Operation FALCON (Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally) from June 1-7, Led by the U.S. Marshals, Operation FALCON 2008 netted 103 arrests within the Eastern District of Louisiana (E/LA).

Operation FALCON – E/LA combined the collective efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies in one of the area’s largest-ever fugitive initiatives, focusing on capturing individuals wanted on felony charges including sexual predators and fugitives wanted for crimes of violence. Over the course of the seven-day operation, Deputy U.S. Marshals, teamed with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, arrested 103 fugitives and cleared more than 150 warrants in the Eastern Louisiana area.

Operation FALCON is a fugitive apprehension initiative led by the U.S. Marshals. The week-long intensive fugitive operation is a combined effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement partners. Operation FALCON – E/LA was coordinated and managed by the U.S. Marshals Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force and Deputy U.S. Marshals from the New Orleans district office.

Among the 103 individuals arrest during FALCON were 12 sex offenders, two for rape and two for the sexual assault of a juvenile, 24 individuals for narcotics violations, 12 individuals for robbery and six for homicide. FALCON teams also confiscated two firearms.

“The tremendous success of this intensive fugitive operation highlights the results that can be achieved when federal, state, and local law enforcement officer’s work together toward a simple, but common goal – ridding their communities of persons wanted for violent crimes,” said Eastern Louisiana U.S. Marshal Michael D. Credo.

The following are some of the individuals arrested during Operation FALCON - E/LA: Perry DeMolle charged with Armed Robbery/Aggravated Burglary; Geoffry McEwen charged with Attempted Murder; Steven Dominick charged with Rape/Assault; Harold Evans charged with Incest with Juvenile; Garan Gibson charged with Rape; Eric Smith charged with Dist. Of Cocaine/ Poss. Sawed off Shotgun; Ronald Alexander charged with Attempted Murder/Armed Robbery four counts; Shaun Franklin charged with Armed Robbery three-counts/Carjacking; Wesley Hawkins charged with two counts Aggravated Incest; and Arthur Charles charged with Armed Robbery/Aggravated Assault.

Clark. “With their exceptional assistance, Operation FALCON continues to be the largest and most successful fugitive apprehension effort in U.S. Marshals history.”

Operation FALCON 2008 is the fifth in a series of highly-successful fugitive apprehension initiatives sponsored by the U.S. Marshals. Since the first Operation FALCON took flight in April 2005, more than 36,500 fugitives have been arrested and approximately 45,300 warrants have been cleared. The success of the FALCON operations has proven to be the largest and most successful fugitive apprehension effort in the history of the U.S. Marshals.

Agencies contributing to Operation FALCON-E/LA were the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, Saint Bernard Sheriff’s Office, Saint Charles Sheriff’s Office, Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office, New Orleans Police Department, Thibodeaux Police Department, Louisiana Probation and Parole, Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, Dept. of Housing and Urban Development – OIG, U.S. Border Patrol, Social Security Administration – OIG, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
