THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE
ARRESTS CAPITAL MURDER SUSPECT IN DEATH OF INFANT CHILD
San
Antonio – Today the United States Marshals Service sponsored
Lone Star Fugitive Task Force along with the San Antonio Police
Department Repeat Offender Program (SAPD-ROP) arrested a man charged
in the Capital Murder of a Child.
On December 8, 2006, San Antonio Police responded to 4214 East
Southcross for a report of an injured child. The child, 13 month old
Serenity Price was taken to University Hospital in critical
condition. She later died. Serenity’s death was ruled a homicide by
the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. Serenity’s mother
reported the suspect, 24 year old Lorance Dontae Hill, was alone in
a bedroom with Serenity and was the last person to see her alive in
good condition.
On August 6, 2007, San Antonio Police applied for and obtained a
Capital Murder arrest warrant for Hill. One day after the issuance
of the warrant and intense media coverage, the fugitive Lorance
Hill, was nowhere to be found. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF)
was then contacted for assistance. LSFTF members partnered with
plain clothes SAPD ROP Detectives and began an intense manhunt for
Hill. Information developed during the investigation placed Hill in
a Motel 6 off of IH-35 in San Antonio. After conducting covert
surveillance for two days with no sign of Hill entering or leaving
the Motel 6, it was decided to do a strategically planned room to
room search for Hill. The third room searched resulted in finding
Hill with an adult female. Hill was arrested without incident and
the female is not charged at this time.
The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas
LaFayette Collins said, “Because of the relationships the Lone Star
Fugitive Task Force has forged with the surrounding law enforcement
agencies, we are able to unite in going after those that harm
society and especially, those that harm our children. Our prayers go
out for young Serenity Price.”
