THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ANNOUNCES THE ARREST OF
WILLIAM MICHAEL RHODES
Dallas,
TX - In the early morning hours of March 7,2007, the long run of
a serial bank robber came to an end thanks to the combined efforts
of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF), the Dallas/Fort Worth
Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW/FAST) and the Dallas FBI Bank
Robbery Squad. William Michael Rhodes was arrested at a Dallas area
motel with the loot from his latest heist.
On October 30, 2006, Rhodes robbed the Citizens National Bank in
Teague, TX (Freestone County). Rhodes left with $13,000.00 and used
a stolen vehicle as a get-away car. Surveillance footage allowed for
a positive identification of Rhodes as the robber.
Using various investigative techniques, members of the LSFTF, DFW/FAST
and the FBI were able to determine a location in the Dallas area for
Rhodes. After several hours of surveillance, Rhodes was taken into
custody.
It is believed Rhodes is responsible for as many as seven (7) bank
robberies in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX area.
United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette
Collins said, “The pursuit of this fugitive highlights not only what
the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force does but that we believe in and
espouse the ‘Teamwork’ way of conducting business. Getting the bad
guy in jail is the most important mission.”
Participating Agencies: DFW/FAST, Dallas Police Dept., FBI, Texas
Rangers, Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and USMS W/TX.
