THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE RESCUES GENESIS PAREDEZ

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoSan Antonio – On Saturday February 10, 2007 four year old Genesis Paredez found herself being fought over by her grandmother and her birth mother. The result was a grandmother being assaulted by her own daughter and an intense manhunt for a missing four year old girl. Sunday afternoon the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, led by the United States Marshals Service in the Western District of Texas, reunited Genesis with her grandmother.

Genesis Paredez was being reared in a household filled with a history of domestic violence, drug abuse and neglect. Child Protective Services had removed little Genesis from her birth mother’s home after both the mother and her father had failed to complete anger management classes and report for regular drug screening. The state awarded custody of the sweet brown eyed little girl and her ten month old baby brother to their maternal grandmother. On the evening of February 10, 2007, Genesis found herself literally being pulled between her care giving grandmother and her mother. Genesis later told task force officers that, “She kicked at her mom because hitting was wrong.”

The San Antonio Police Department contacted the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force for assistance in locating the missing little girl. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force immediately mobilized and began an intense city wide manhunt for the missing little girl. After numerous interviews, computer checks, and the utilization of other investigative techniques the task force tracked the mother and Genesis to a residence on the 1400 block of Creighton Avenue.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force entered the home and discovered Genesis being taken to a back bedroom by her mother, Priscilla Paredez. Priscilla Paredez was arrested on unrelated charges and the little girl was taken to San Antonio Police Department Headquarters where a tearful reunion between the little girl and her joyful grandmother took place.

United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “The smile on the girl’s laughing face as she played with the Deputies will be the highlight of their careers."
