U.S Marshals Arrest
Lexington County Fugitive on the Run for 13 Years
Columbia, SC-
Juan Manuel Sanchez was apprehended today by deputy marshals in
Memphis ,TN. He had been on the run for almost 14 years. Sanchez,
31, was the subject of (4) August 1993 Lexington County warrants
accusing him of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor. Sanchez was
booked into the Shelby County Jail awaiting extradition proceedings.
Deputy marshals in Columbia began working the case in January 2007.
Working with Lexington County investigators, they were able to track
Sanchez to a residence on West Cabernet. At this time, it is unknown
how long Sanchez resided at this address. In announcing the arrest,
United States Marshal Johnny Mack Brown said, “The allegations
against Mr. Sanchez are very serious. Thanks to the cooperation
between deputy marshals and Lexington County deputies, he will
finally be brought back to South Carolina to answer these charges.”
Established in 1789, the United States Marshals Service is the

Marshals arrested more than 35,500 federal fugitives, clearing
38,500 felony warrants. Marshals Service-led task forces like South
Carolina’s Operation Intercept arrested 44,000 state and local
fugitives, clearing 51,200 state and local felony warrants. Locally,
Operation Intercept arrested over 2,900 South Carolina fugitives
