Marshals Apprehend
One of South Carolina's Most Wanted
Aiken, SC -
Kelvin Holman was taken
into custody just after 3:00 PM today in Aiken County. Holman, who
was one of the Marshals' Top 10 South Carolina fugitives, was the
subject of a Federal Bond Violation warrant alleging that he failed
to appear for sentencing after being convicted of a Cocaine
Conspiracy. Deputy marshals had been looking for Holman since
December 2006 and initially tracked him to the Charlotte area.
Deputies developed information that he recently returned to Aiken
County and were able to pinpoint a possible residence late last
week. Holman was apprehended today by deputy marshals and the Aiken
County Sheriff's Office after he ran out the back door of a
residence on Opal Drive. In announcing the arrest, United States
Marshal Johnny Mack Brown said, "We appreciate very much the quick
response of both Aiken County and SLED. Both agencies sent resources
our way that greatly aided in Holman's apprehension."
Established in 1789, the United States Marshals Service is the
nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency. In fiscal 2005, the
Marshals arrested more than 35,500 federal fugitives, clearing
38,500 felony warrants. Marshals Service-led task forces like South
Carolina’s Operation Intercept arrested 44,000 state and local
fugitives, clearing 51,200 state and local felony warrants. Locally,
Operation Intercept arrested over 2,900 South Carolina fugitives
during that same period. More information about the Marshals and
