U.S. MARSHALS TASK FORCE AND NEW ORLEANS POLICE DEPARTMENT HAUL IN MURDER SUSPECT AS OPERATION DEBRIS REMOVAL CONTINUES

The U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Louisiana Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force (CSFTF) and the New Orleans Police Department arrested Bryan Bordere, 21 years old, in the 1900 block of Pauger St. after he briefly resisted arrest. Bordere was wanted by the New Orleans Police Department on a first degree murder warrant.

The murder occurred on Saturday, October 07, 2007, in the 1400 block of Congress St., New Orleans, Louisiana. Townsend Bennett, the 23 years old victim, had recently been released from prison and was on parole for a 2003 conviction in Orleans Parish for two counts of manslaughter. News reports indicated that a firearm and narcotics were recovered from the scene of Bennett’s murder.

The New Orleans Police Department developed Bordere as a suspect in Bennett’s murder and requested the assistance of CSFTF in locating him. Bordere had recently been released from Louisiana probation supervision for possession of cocaine and simple escape.

U.S. Marshal Credo stated, “This is another example of law enforcement agencies on every level working together to deter violent crime in our community.”

CSFTF was established by the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Louisiana in 1999, and the New Orleans Police Department has been a member since its inception. Other members of the task force include the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Bogalusa Police Department, Louisiana Probation and Parole, U.S. Border Patrol, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Services, and the Social Security Office of Inspector General.
