Four Day Fugitive Sweep Nets 29 Arrests

Hawaii Fugitive Task Force PatchKauai, HI - Last week a warrant / fugitive sweep operation was conducted by the Hawaii Fugitive Task Force led by the United States Marshals Service with a collaborative effort by the Department of Public Safety Sheriffs Office, Kauai Police Department, Hawaii Police Department and the Prosecutor's Office.

The surprise 4 day warrant sweep conducted September 4,2007 to September 7,2007 on the island of Kauai; focused on clearing outstanding warrants and apprehending fugitives consisting of drug related offenses as well as crimes of violence for assault, sexual assault and family abuse. Through out the 4 day operation, federal, state and local authorities worked together from sun-up to sun-down tracking fugitives who until now thought they wouldn't have to answer for their outstanding warrants.

At the conclusion of the operation; 29 people were arrested, 42 outstanding warrants were executed or cleared, and 5 additional charges were filed for drug possession and drug paraphernalia as well as the seizure of 34 grams of methamphetamine.
