Sexual
Offender Arrested
The U.S. Marshals Broward County
Violent Fugitive Task Force has arrested a man who is wanted in the
Orlando area for the repeated sexual assault of a child under the
age of twelve(12). U.S. Marshals and Orange County Sheriff’s
deputies arrested 66-year old Lloyd Dubric Mitchell this afternoon
at 220 SW 29th Ave. in Ft. Lauderdale. Mitchell is charged with 50
counts of sexual battery on a child under 12 years old. The victim
in this case was related to Mitchell and Orange County Sheriff’s
investigators stated the sexual assault has been ongoing for years.
Just over a month ago, the victim
told Sheriff’s deputies in Orlando about the repeated abuse. Orange
County Sheriff’s issued a warrant for Mitchell’s arrest on March 14,
2007. Mitchell found out about the arrest warrant and fled to South
Florida.
When Orange County Sheriff’s investigators learned that Mitchell was
hiding out in the Ft. Lauderdale area, they drove to South Florida
and teamed up with the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force
which is comprised of Deputy Marshals and other Federal, State, and
Local law enforcement officers in Broward County.
Task Force members learned Mitchell was possibly living at an
address in Ft. Lauderdale with a known family member. Deputy
Marshals setup surveillance on that house and positively identified
Mitchell at the home. When law enforcement officials entered the
residence to take Mitchell into custody, Mitchell was extremely
non-compliant and even attempted to bite several of the officers.
Mitchell, who is from Jamaica, is no stranger to the State of
Florida Criminal Justice system. In January of 1996, Mitchell was
convicted of sexual battery on a child under 12 years old. Mitchell
is a registered Sexual Predator in the State of Florida. Database
queries show Mitchell has used at least six(6) different dates of
birth, and four(4) different social security numbers when he has
been arrested by law enforcement officers.
Mitchell is now being held at the Broward County Jail in Ft.
Lauderdale and will be extradited back to Orlando. The 50 counts of
sexual assault is being considered a “capital” crime by Orange
County prosecutors. Mitchell could face the death penalty if
convicted. A photo of Mitchell can be obtained at the Broward
Sheriff’s website, www.Sheriff.org,
