Arrest of Homicide Suspect, Marvin Davis

The United States Marshals in Delaware have arrested a second suspect in a New Castle County, Delaware homicide. The fugitive was found Monday afternoon, hiding under a pile of clothes in a Selbyville-area apartment.

Marvin Davis, 20, who was found just after 5 p.m., faces murder charges in the death of Michael Flakes on June 5. U.S. Marshals had been searching for Davis since he was identified as a suspect and eventually the trail led to Hickory Tree Apartments in rural downstate Delaware. After days of surveillance, marshals spotted Davis on Monday coming out of an apartment building. Deputy Marshals then entered the building and arrested him in the master bedroom. Davis was trying to hide from police under a pile of clothing.

The homicide occurred on Tuesday, June 5 at 9:41 p.m., in the unit block of Clyde Street, in the community of Belvedere, Delaware for multiple reports of “shots-fired.” The investigation has revealed a disturbance occurred just outside of a residence on Clyde Street that led to the shooting. The 17 year old victim Michael Flakes suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the lower torso and died at Christiana Hospital. The second victim sustained a minor injury to his torso area.

Davis is charged with homicide in the first degree and related charges. He is being held at the Young Correctional Institute in Wilmington, Delaware.

On June 6, James Cooper an accomplice was arrested by the United States Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force in the City of Wilmington.
