Arrest of Angel
Garcia
The United States
Marshals Service has arrested a Wilmington man wanted by New Castle
County Police for hitting a man in the head with a baseball bat.
Angel R. Garcia, 33, previously of 210 Lincoln St., Wilmington, DE
was wanted in connection with a baseball bat attack on a Castle
Hills man that left him severely brain damaged on September 10, 2006
at approximately 12:30 AM on the unit block of Chelwynne Rd., New
Castle.
The United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force was assisting County
Police in trying to locate Garcia. After four months of
investigation, information was developed that Garcia was in the
Worcester, MA area. Deputy Marshals in Delaware forwarded the leads
to the Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Massachusetts. Deputies in
Worcester set up surveillance at 4 Plane Ave., Worcester, MA. At
approximately 1:00 this afternoon, deputies saw a subject matching
Garcia’s description. The subject was trying to conceal his identity
by covering his face with a hooded sweatshirt, hat and sunglasses.
Police attempted to stop the subject when he was in his car but
refused to stop for a marked police car. Garcia’s car then
intentionally rammed the police car in an effort to flee. The
suspect car was disabled and the driver and Garcia refused to obey
police. After a short struggle, Garcia and the driver were
apprehended.
The driver of the vehicle, Thomas Maldonado faces several charges in
Massachusetts. Garcia is facing local charges of resisting arrest
and pending extradition to Delaware. Bail information is unavailable
at the time of this news release. |
