Scottsdale Most Wanted Fugitive
Apprehended by U.S. Marshals
A federal fugitive on the Scottsdale
Police Department’s most wanted list for aggravated assault has been
apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Los Angeles.
Ronald Sipes,
age 36 of Phoenix was being south by the Scottsdale Police
Department for aggravated assault, which occurred on December 23,
2006. It is alleged that Sipes repeatedly beat his girlfriend and
burned her repeatedly with a blowtorch in a Motel 6 motel room in
Scottsdale. In addition, Sipes had an outstanding federal supervised
release warrant issued on December 12, 2006 by the U.S. District
Court in Phoenix, Arizona for violating the conditions of his
supervised release. Sipes is currently on federal supervise release
after being convicted in federal court in 1999 for methamphetamine
charges and sentenced to 51 months.
One June 6th, U.S. Marshals in Phoenix alerted U.S. Marshals in Los
Angeles that Sipes was living in the Los Angeles area. . On June 11
at approximately 1:15 pm, U.S. Marshals on surveillance in the Eagle
Rock area of Los Angeles located Spiles near his parked RV where he
was taken into custody without incident. He was later arraigned in
U.S. District Court in Los Angeles for the outstanding federal
supervised release warrant and ordered detained pending removal back
to Phoenix.
Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in
the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More
federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal
agencies combined.
