Metros Driver of the Year has been behind the wheel for 36 years
John Fabre is the 2005 winner
For more than 25 years, Metro bus drivers have annually selected one of their own as the Operator of the Year. The award is based on safe driving skills, exceptional customer service, and an outstanding overall work record. John Fabre is the 2005 winner, and his 36-year career with Metro was celebrated at a special ceremony on May 23. It was attended by King County Executive Ron Sims, Metro managers, previous Operators of the Year, and Fabre's family and friends. Fabre was given several mementoes and transportation-related gifts -- such as a personalized motorman's hat to mark his years driving the waterfront streetcar.
