Commercial Sector Analysis

Sector analysis is used to help guide research efforts on high-performance commercial buildings. Energy use intensity is commonly used to quantify energy performance by expressing the total energy use per unit floor area. Energy use intensities in commercial buildings vary widely and depend on activity and climate, as shown in this data table, which was derived from the Energy Information Agency's 2003 Commercial Building Energy Consumption Survey.
