Welcome to the website of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA).

I often speak about my four-point vision for WDVA. First and foremost, I believe that we must fully honor our commitment to Wisconsin’s veterans. As long as I am Secretary, that commitment to Wisconsin’s veterans will never waiver.

Second, I firmly believe that WDVA must always ensure stakeholder involvement, working hard to extend and expand the department’s critically important relationships with all the veterans’ service organizations, county veterans service officers, key leaders, VA officials, and many others.

Third, I believe that WDVA must continue strong and positive legislative partnerships, at the state and federal levels and on both sides of the aisle, working in a non-partisan manner to ensure that the needs and goals of Wisconsin’s veterans continue to be met. Finally, my vision for WDVA is to ensure the solvency of the Veterans Trust Fund.

As always, please contact WDVA directly if we can be of assistance.

With the signing of SB 40 into law on October 26, 2007 as 2007 Wisconsin Act 20, the 2007-09 biennial budget process is now complete. This budget includes measures to meet the needs of currently returning veterans, ensure top quality long-term health care at the Wisconsin Veterans Homes, and continuing free higher education for Wisconsin veterans.
