The Subcommittee for Consequence Assessment and Protective Actions (SCAPA) will be conducting its 2007 annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday and Friday, May 10–11.   This meeting will be held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Emergency Management Issues Special Interest Group (EMI-SIG) on May 7–9.

Prior to the start of the SCAPA meeting, SCAPA working groups will be meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8–9, during breaks in the EMI-SIG conference.   This includes meetings of the:

Other meetings of potential interest will be held on Monday, May 7 (e.g., the DOE Meteorology Coordinating Council, Hazards Assessment Subcommittee).

All meetings will be held at the El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel at 110 Lexington Avenue in San Antonio, TX.  The El Tropicano is conveniently located on the banks of the Riverwalk and is close to popular attractions like the Alamo and the Rivercenter Mall.

We are particularly excited to be offering a biosafety- and emergency management-themed tour of the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research (http://www.sfbr.org/), a biosafety level-4 laboratory with a large primate research center, on Friday afternoon, May 11.

This year’s delicious and entertaining SCAPA Dinner will be held between the two days of SCAPA meetings, on Thursday, May 10 at 6 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you in San Antonio in May!   If you need a letter from SCAPA requesting your participation in the annual meeting, please contact Cliff Glantz (SCAPA Chair) at cliff.glantz@pnl.gov (509.375.2166).
