Lee Whitlock, Marquis Companies
|
Lee Whitlock has been a hiring manager for 18 years. Currently she supervises all hiring for the Marquis Companies – which employs 3,000 people in six states. Marquis has ten different businesses including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities and pharmacies. In her time as a hiring manager, Lee has employed all sorts of methods to find qualified candidates for her openings. She’s spent a lot of money in advertising, and has used million dollar applicant tracking software packages.
Recently, Lee changed the way Marquis looks for applicants. And she did it without spending a dime.
“I think all hiring managers, no matter what industries they are from are looking for quality individuals in a low cost way. iMatchSkills gave us actually a no-cost way,” says Lee.
iMatchSkills, from the WorkSource Oregon Employment Department, offers a state-of-the-art, award winning way for employers to find qualified candidates, and for job seekers to match to potential openings. iMatchSkills is an Internet application that uses skills, not just job titles and work experience, to create a better matching system.
For Lee, the choice was clear.
“It was really a brilliant system and I think that their online system is excellent because all of our facilities can go online and post all of our positions. Candidates can apply online; can apply directly to our facilities as well as our hiring managers can search the resume database online to find more qualified candidates.”
Using iMatchSkills, Lee has hired certified nursing assistants (CAN), housekeeping staff, laundry, receptionists, a social service director, a maintenance manager, and even an office manager.
“The Oregon Employment Department organized our whole entire company; put all of our locations on there, all of our contact information on there.”
WorkSource Oregon didn’t stop there – but through our Workforce Response Teams we provided nearly $2,000 in training grants for her current workforce – keeping them up to date with current technology and industry practices.
So for Lee Whitlock, the choice was simple – iMatchSkills from WorkSource Oregon. She can’t figure out why an employer wouldn’t use it!
“I would really suggest that before they start spending any advertising dollars to be looking at all of their free resources in the Portland Metro or in the Oregon area, and the first one on their list should be iMatchSkills.”
