Carrie Young, Cornelius Chamber of Commerce Director

When Carrie Young decided to go back to work on a full-time basis, she turned to WorkSource Oregon Employment Department and their award-winning online matching tool, iMatchSkills. She had been self employed in Web design and selling antiques online, but three weeks after enrolling for the services, she was accepting her new job as director of the Cornelius Chamber of Commerce.
Recalling a prior good experience at the Employment Department in Hillsboro, she contacted her veterans’ representative, Kurt Carlsen, and he helped Carrie list her skills and abilities in iMatchSkills.
“As I recall, it was a 15 or 20 minute process,” Carrie said. “They ask you your name and such, and then it’s just a point and click from there. They have a list of skills; it’s all categorized; and you just click the ones you can do. You also put down the level of experience you have for each skill - then they have more to go on to match you.”
iMatchSkills matched Carrie to several positions, and it wasn’t long before she was interviewing with chamber board members for the director position.
“The iMatchSkills Web site really helps you define what you are good at in a clear and concise way; and then it does the work for you.”
